\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\"Mostert,\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tChaz Mostert’s damaged Walkinshaw TWG Racing Toyota Supra.<\/p>\n

Wood was the first of the Walkinshaw TWG Racing drivers to slip up, losing control of the #2 car at Reid Park on Lap 139 of 161.<\/p>\n

Wood hit the outside concrete wall squarely, causing significant damage to the left-hand side of the Supra.<\/p>\n

Despite the ferocity of the hit, Wood was able to return to the race late and be classified 24th with co-driver Jaxon Evans.<\/p>\n

It was the second big hit for the New Zealander, who crashed at Forrest\u2019s Elbow during Practice 3.<\/p>\n

\u201cFirst of all, a big credit to the guys and girls in the team, a massive effort to just get us out there, we knew it was going to be an uphill battle and it sure was today,\u201d said Wood after Sunday\u2019s race.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnfortunately, when you start last your odds are stacked against you and we just didn\u2019t have the speed to really make any headways.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the end when you are pushing hard, you can get unstuck pretty quickly around here and that\u2019s what happened for me.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust a big sorry to the crew and I\u2019m really glad Chazzie is okay cause I know how it feels down there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mostert fell victim to Forrest\u2019s Elbow in similar circumstances to Wood on Lap 156.<\/p>\n

The two-time Bathurst 1000 winner clipped the inside wall, which spat the car into the outside tyre barrier.<\/p>\n

The violent hit with five laps to go relegated Mostert to watching the final few laps from the elbow.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust six laps from home and unfortunately binned the car at the elbow, just locked the rears a little bit, you use that kind of balance of the car to rotate the car in but late in the afternoon and I got a bit too narrow,\u201d said Mostert.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe hit was pretty big but I was lucky to hit the tyres not the concrete wall. I\u2019m gutted for our whole team, sponsors and fan support.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs much as I am gutted, we are will regroup and get ready for Round 1 of the finals in a couple of weeks time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mostert and Wood will be back on track soon for the Gold Coast 500 on October 23-25.<\/p>\n
