Lindsay Lohan just gave fans of The Parent Trap a nostalgic double surprise. Nearly three decades after playing twins Annie James and Hallie Parker, the actress slipped back into both roles for a milestone celebration. The reunion came as the beloved sisters turned 40 in the movie’s timeline. It gave longtime fans a glimpse of how both characters might look today.

Lindsay brings Annie and Hallie back for a milestone celebration

In an Instagram Reel, Lindsay Lohan transformed into both Annie and Hallie to celebrate their October 11 birthday. She filmed the characters separately before editing the footage together to create a playful exchange between the grown-up twins.

The clip first featured Annie, who reminded her sister about their birthday. Then came Hallie, who jokingly assured Annie that she had not forgotten the date.

The styling also helped distinguish the two Parent Trap characters. Annie appeared polished and sophisticated, while Hallie retained the more relaxed personality viewers remember from the 1998 Disney movie. EntertainmentNow described the video as a look at what the twins could be like at 40.

Naturally, fans embraced the throwback. Comments celebrated seeing Annie and Hallie together again, while others said the video made them want to rewatch The Parent Trap. Some even referenced the movie’s famous peanut butter and Oreo combination.

The timing made the double surprise particularly fitting. Lohan was only a child when she played both twins in the Nancy Meyers-directed remake, which became her breakout movie. Dennis Quaid and the late Natasha Richardson played the twins’ parents, while Elaine Hendrix starred as Meredith Blake.

Lohan has already made it clear that she has not completely closed the door on Annie and Hallie. In July, she said she would consider returning for a Parent Trap sequel if the right script came along and Nancy Meyers was involved.

For now, fans of The Parent Trap got the next best thing: Lindsay Lohan bringing both sisters back to celebrate their 40th birthday together.
