Pickering<\/a> was back in Huakau\u2019s life.<\/p>\nShe had contact with him, but he was not back in her life, Huakau responded.<\/p>\n
Nunweek questioned whether the presence of Pickering or his wh\u0101nau at the hearing had any \u201cinfluence\u201d on what she was saying, which Huakau denied.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe also knows that we\u2019re here to support her too,\u201d a member of Pickering\u2019s family called out from the public gallery.<\/p>\n
Nunweek said she was trying to understand why, in Huakau\u2019s statement, Huakau said she thought Pickering had \u201csnapped\u201d on the day Poseidyn was fatally injured.<\/p>\n
\u201cI can\u2019t give you an understanding to that,\u201d Huakau answered.<\/p>\n
She agreed with Nunweek that the coroner should set the statement aside.<\/p>\n
During the exchange, someone from Huakau\u2019s supporters in the public gallery shouted that the inquest just wanted someone to blame.<\/p>\n

During Huakau\u2019s evidence yesterday, her lawyer to assist Kima Tuialii asked about aspects of the evidence given by her sister, Pare-ana Huakau, in March.<\/p>\n
Pare-ana Huakau had told the court that on the day Poseidyn was found unresponsive, she and her sister had arranged to split a packet of cigarettes.<\/p>\n
Tuialii said Pare-ana recalled that Huakau\u2019s bedroom door was closed, with Huakau, Pickering and the children inside, and she had to grab her bank card from Huakau through the window. <\/p>\n
Huakau told Tuialii that account was a \u201clot of s***\u201d and said she and her sister had never communicated through a window.<\/p>\n
Tuialii also took Huakau through her sister\u2019s evidence that she had seen cigarette burns on Poseidyn\u2019s legs while he was alive. Cigarette-burn-like scars were later found on his body after his death.<\/p>\n
Huakau said her sister never looked after Poseidyn, but conceded she may have seen the marks on his legs while in the Manurewa, South Auckland, home they shared.<\/p>\n
Huakau also denied her sister\u2019s claim that she had once thrown Poseidyn on a bed and, on another occasion, on to concrete while chasing after Pickering during an argument.<\/p>\n
She did acknowledge, however, that she chased after Pickering \u201ca lot\u201d.<\/p>\n
Huakau then told Nunweek she and her sister did not have a relationship. <\/p>\n
She said that at the time the inquest began, it was the first time her sister had contacted her since Poseidyn\u2019s death because \u201cher [Pare-ana\u2019s] kids\u2019 dad\u201d had been messaging her.<\/p>\n
Nunweek asked if Huakau\u2019s sister was angry or jealous about the man talking to her, and Huakau replied, \u201cYeah\u201d.<\/p>\n
Huakau claimed that was why her sister had fabricated the story about retrieving the bank card through the window, along with \u201cother lies\u201d.<\/p>\n
Coroner Fitzgibbon said Huakau\u2019s evidence marked the conclusion of the inquest. She said she would now consider all the evidence before delivering her findings and recommendations in due course.<\/p>\n
