Heading into the fourth episode of Survivor 51, Carter Krull and Lewis Kelly had just made the strategic decision to “go against the five” at Toka, disrupting Devin Way and Brady Booker’s power alliance and sending Patt Cannaday home.

Tonight, when Jeff Probst institutes a swap and the two tribes redistribute into three, the cracks at Toka spread to the new tribes, causing many to worry whether they’ll be subjected to the notorious “swap screw.” At one new tribe, the Helicopter Alliance finds new life and at another, two players make a “ride or die” commitment.

Read on for our recap of all the important moments from Episode 4 of Survivor 51, titled “That’s the Magic of Survivor,” which aired Oct. 14 at 8 p.m. PT on CBS.

Tribe Swap

The morning after Patt’s elimination, both tribes receive Tree Mail directing every player to embark on a journey via boat. On one beach, Jeff teases that it’s an “open era” early merge, but instead goes “old school” and breaks the two tribes down into three via a traditional “drop your buffs” swap. The new members of Toka are Carter, Brady, Mike Pinsky, Maggie Nestor, and Thien An Nguyen from old Toka as well as Kristin Flickinger from old Savu. The new members of Savu are Devin, Jelly Loblack, and Jenna Doore from old Toka, and Ori Jean-Charles and Alexis Levine from old Savu. Members of the new Dina tribe are Danny Kilby and Lewis from old Toka, and Sharonda Cox, Eric Macksoud, Cristian Chavez, and Linnea Capobianco from old Savu.

New Vibes

Dina is left at a bare beach to “start from scratch” and Kilby quickly spreads a story about how mean his original tribe was (namely Devin). Eric is moved by Kilby’s story and tells him that they should work together in a “Lover Boys” bromance, which potentially leaves Lewis as the odd man out within the majority original Savu group. The other Savu members can see how close Eric and Kilby become, raising concerns that Kilby is a threat to their “Savu strong” mindset.

At Toka, Kristin considers her new position as “terrifying adjacent,” but she immediately balances that by proving her value at pointing out medicinal plants and food sources around camp and it doesn’t take her long to learn that the original Toka was a very fractured group. Mike’s “bottom feeder” scrambling worries his new tribe, prompting Thien An and Carter to become “ride or die” allies.

At Savu, the original tribe divide is a moot point for Devin, Jelly, and Ori who affirm their commitment to the Helicopter Alliance that they formed on day one and includes a possible love match between Jelly and Ori. Alexis and Jenna commiserate over Devin’s untrustworthiness, but instead of aligning with Alexis, Jenna uses that information to try to pull Devin into being Toka strong.

Immunity/Reward Challenge

For their first challenge in new tribes, the players race to fill and toss buckets of ocean water and then complete a spinning maze. As winners, the first tribe to finish wins a coffee kit and the second tribe to finish receives one pitcher of iced coffee, as well as safety from the next vote. Eric and Thien An are selected as the sit outs for their tribes.

Jelly struggles in her position for the water toss, causing Savu to fall behind early. Though they advance to the spinning maze in time to mount a comeback, Dina holds on to finish first and Toka secures the second-place spot. Already down a player compared to the other two tribes, Savu is sent to Tribal Council to lose another.

Tribal Council

Admittedly “antsy,” Jenna asks Devin and Jelly to disregard that they were on opposite sides of original Toka so that they can stay together now to vote out one of the Savu players. Her pitch is to keep Ori for strength and take out Alexis. The only play that Alexis has is to “drive the wedge” between Jenna and Devin wider with the hope that Jenna will vote with her and give her her shoes as collateral. Because Alexis doesn’t know Ori is close with Devin and Jelly, she attempts to get him to split them up, but instead the decision comes down to whether Devin, Jelly, and Ori want to get rid of Jenna or Alexis.

At Tribal Council, the voting narrative is that “it doesn’t have to be a big move, just the smart move.” Understanding where the power resides, Jenna and Alexis vote for one another and despite verbalizing that he wants to repair the early cracks between him and Jenna, Devin and the rest of the Helicopter Alliance take the 4-1 shot at Jenna, who becomes the fifth player to leave the game.

Heading into the fourth episode of Survivor 51, Carter Krull and Lewis Kelly had just made the strategic…

[29
3564,156,111,139,69,1093,14484,303926,437
post-630979","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-tv","tag-cbs","tag-entertainment","tag-new-zealand","tag-newzealand","tag-nz","tag-reality-tv","tag-survivor","tag-survivor-51","tag-tv
["GET
