Four fire engines are responding to an industrial building fire in Tauranga, Fire and Emergency New Zealand says.<\/p>\n
Among the first on the scene was National Party Tauranga candidate Sam Uffindell \u2013 the second time this week the MP has come across an emergency on the campaign trail.<\/p>\n
Cameron Templer said he and Uffindell were door knocking in Judea when they spotted smoke coming from a building.<\/p>\n
Templer, who owns Mount Maunganui business SlamJump, said the pair were on Birch Ave when they saw \u201cblack and white\u201d smoke escaping from the garage doors and top of an industrial building.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was actually one of the next doors we were going to knock,\u201d Templer said.<\/p>\n
The pair \u201cinstinctively\u201d called 111 about 3.20pm and fire crews arrived about two minutes later.<\/p>\n
He said about 4pm crews were \u201cstill going at it\u201d but it appeared no one was in the building.<\/p>\n
Uffindell said fire crews arrived at the scene \u201cvery quickly\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey just went in there, crowbarred open the door and smoke billowed out \u2026<\/p>\n
\u201cThey had their masks on and went straight in.\u201d<\/p>\n
Fire and Emergency shift manager Nadine Davies said they received a call about an industrial building fire on Birch Ave at 3.20pm.<\/p>\n
Four fire engines from Mount Maunganui, Tauranga and Greerton responded.<\/p>\n
