The poignant confession comes two years after she and her wife, Portia de Rossi, 53, moved from Los Angeles to the UK.<\/p>\n
The couple fled the US after President Donald Trump was re-elected to a second term and moved to the picturesque Cotswolds.<\/p>\n
\u201cEverything here is just better \u2014 the way animals are treated, people are polite. I just love it here,\u201d DeGeneres said in August 2025.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s absolutely beautiful,\u201d DeGeneres added. \u201cWe\u2019re just not used to seeing this kind of beauty. The villages and the towns and the architecture \u2014 everything you see is charming and it\u2019s just a simpler way of life.\u201d<\/p>\n
The move also followed the end of her hugely popular talk show after ten former employees accused her of creating a \u201ctoxic\u201d on-set atmosphere of \u201cracism, fear, and intimidation.\u201d<\/p>\n
When the workplace allegations first came out in 2020 \u2014 while the \u201cEllen DeGeneres Show\u201d was still on the air \u2014 DeGeneres addressed the claims on camera.<\/p>\n
\u201cI learned that things happened here that never should\u2019ve happened,\u201d she said at the time. \u201cI take that very seriously, and I want to say I\u2019m so sorry to the people who were affected.\u201d<\/p>\n
She continued, \u201cWe have had a lot of conversations over the last few weeks about the show, our workplace and what we want for the future. We have made the necessary changes and today we are starting a new chapter.\u201d<\/p>\n
DeGeneres has kept a low profile in the UK, although she was recently spotted spending time with another celebrity ex-pat, Meghan Markle.<\/p>\n
She and the former Suits star were photographed chatting at the Three Horseshoes near Burford, Oxfordshire, along with DeGeneres\u2019 wife.<\/p>\n
