It\u2019s alleged a tourist was to blame.<\/p>\n

Police told the Herald they weren\u2019t immediately aware of the incident. <\/p>\n

One Reddit user commented: \u201cDid you get out and yell at them? Geesus H Christ\u201d. <\/p>\n

Another took aim at apparent tourists: \u201cHow the f*** are you going to go to another country, get a car, and go driving on the wrong f***ing side of the road? It\u2019s not like some complex puzzle.\u201d<\/p>\n

Others argued drivers should always be driving on the side of the centre line.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a driver, you should be sitting on the side closest to the middle of the road. If you find yourself driving along and you\u2019re sitting right on the side of the road and you\u2019re not aware something\u2019s wrong then I don\u2019t know what to tell you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Police say they have no record of a reported incident. <\/p>\n

In August, a car was filmed travelling the wrong way along Christchurch\u2019s Southern Motorway<\/a> as traffic approached from the opposite direction.<\/p>\n

The footage shows the vehicle continuing along the wrong carriageway while vehicles travelling in the correct direction approach it.<\/p>\n

At times, other motorists can be seen passing the vehicle as it continues along the motorway.<\/p>\n
