\n\tPaul Bettany<\/a> opened up in a recent interview with The Times<\/a> about the public\u2019s misconception of his relationship with Johnny Depp<\/a> after text messages between the two actors were used in court during Depp\u2019s libel lawsuit against The Sun.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI hadn\u2019t spoken to Johnny in years when that happened and I haven\u2019t spoken to him since. I was being painted as this close friend of a guy I hadn\u2019t spoken to in years and, honestly, amid all the shit two celebrities threw at each other, that bit was the most odd,\u201d Paul told the publication. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cSo I decided to say nothing because, I think, people know me,\u201d he continued. \u201cI\u2019ve been married 23 years and, for what I do, I live an incredibly quiet life. Everybody kind of thought this is probably a nothing burger \u2013 and left it alone.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn 2013, a controversial text exchange between Depp and Bettany became public when it was read during a Feb. 2020 trial hearing. \u201cLet\u2019s burn Amber!!!\u201d wrote Depp, to which Bettany responded: \u201cHaving thought it through I don\u2019t think we should burn Amber \u2013 she\u2019s delightful company and easy on the eye, plus I\u2019m not sure she\u2019s a witch. We could of course try the English course of action in these predicaments \u00ad\u2013 we do a drowning test. Thoughts?\u201d Depp responded that they should \u201cdrown her before we burn her!!! I will fuck her burnt corpse afterwards to make sure she\u2019s dead.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe two actors worked together on multiple films, including 2010\u2019s \u201cThe Tourist,\u201d 2014\u2019s \u201cTranscendence\u201d and 2015\u2019s \u201cMortdecai.\u201d<\/p>\n
