John Wilson<\/a>\u2018s next trick? Showing his dedicated audiences \u201chow to\u201d tour like Harry Styles<\/a>. The \u201cHistory of Concrete\u201d filmmaker and \u201cHow to with John Wilson\u201d creator is allegedly already hard at work on his next project: a concert documentary about Styles and his current \u201cTogether, Together\u201d tour for Universal Pictures Content Group.<\/p>\n

The news was first reported by Variety<\/a>, but eagle-eyed social media denizens had already been sent into gossip overload after videos of Wilson following and filming Styles<\/a> started to make the rounds over the weekend. IndieWire has reached out to Universal for comment.<\/p>\n

According to Variety, Wilson has been filming Styles since August. The pop star is the midst of his latest residency at Madison Square Garden, which is poised to run through October and is the largest single-engagement residency ever at the iconic venue. Per the outlet, \u201cWilson is capturing footage for a doc expected to be a hybrid of live performances and a glimpse into Styles\u2019 world. One source described it as featuring authentic human stories of everyone involved in the tour \u2014from the singer and his fans to countless others behind the scenes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Variety adds that \u201cUniversal Pictures Content Group, Peanut World Pictures, and Styles produced the project. UPCG will own global rights to the film<\/a>.\u201d Distribution plans are not yet set, but \u201cinsiders said the doc may be positioned for a theatrical release via Universal.\u201d<\/p>\n

As Variety reminds us, while Wilson might seem like an odd choice for such a gig, he did get his start directing music videos. And concert docs are big business these days<\/a>, even from lauded filmmakers, The outlet\u2019s Matt Donnelly notes that \u201cBillie Eilish recruited \u2018Titanic\u2019 and \u2018Avatar\u2019 mastermind James Cameron to direct her own theatrical concert opus \u2018Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour,\u2019 which was released in theaters this summer.\u201d<\/p>\n

And, remember a little film called \u201cTaylor Swift: The Eras Tour\u201d<\/a>? <\/p>\n

Wilson is on a hot streak as of late, as IndieWire reported earlier this week<\/a> that his first feature-length documentary, \u201cThe History of Concrete,\u201d recently passed $2 million at the box office.
