<\/p>\nAhead of the gala, Chamberlain spoke with Vogue about the inspiration behind her gown and her \u201chaunting\u201d beauty look. At the Met Gala, she said, \u201cPeople show up and they want to showcase their deepest fashion desires.\u201d But tonight\u2019s event, which raises money for the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, called for a different approach. \u201cIt\u2019s a very classic Hollywood evening,\u201d Chamberlain said. \u201cThe after-party is at the Chateau. It just feels like, \u2018This is LA, baby! This is Hollywood.\u2019 And we\u2019re going to do it exactly like that.\u201d<\/p>\n
Newly brunette, Chamberlain drew inspiration from iconic actors like Audrey Hepburn and Winona Ryder when envisioning her look. Ryder, in particular, was something of a dark brunette mascot for Chamberlain. \u201cWhen I was going from the blonde to the brunette, Winona Ryder was a huge inspo for me,\u201d she said. \u201cI was looking at photos of her constantly, to kind of help me gain the courage to dye it brown.\u201d<\/p>\n

Last year, when Chamberlain attended the Academy Museum event for the first time, she did so in archival Giorgio Armani<\/a> from the spring 1999 collection\u2014a cool sage-green beaded dress with a metallic sheen. But tonight, her cinematic look is all the more fitting because this year, Chamberlain made her acting debut in the film Forbidden Fruits<\/a>.<\/p>\n When it came to her makeup for the evening, she wanted to balance the classic and the unexpected. \u201cI do tend to prefer a goth edge\u2014I have the dark circles and I have the creepy eye shape, or whatever, and I just like to lean into it,\u201d she noted of her approach to makeup in general. \u201cSomething a little less beautiful and a little bit more haunting in the face.\u201d<\/p>\n Chamberlain, who has been on a hiatus from her podcast Anything Goes since April, also offered a teaser of what\u2019s to come next for her as an actor. \u201cI am working on a project right now. I\u2019m not acting, but it\u2019s in somewhat of the space,\u201d she said. The mystery project, which she is co-producing, has \u201cindie vibes,\u201d she added, which has given her the opportunity to go DIY with her beauty. \u201cI\u2019ve been doing my own hair and makeup for that every day,\u201d she said. Her favorite products?
