Read more about PUFFINS Telescope Mission, Objectives, Latest News.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\tPUFFINS Telescope Mission Latest News<\/p>\n<p>A Bengaluru-born astronomer Dr. Ramya Anche will be heading the $20 million NASA space telescope mission PUFFINS.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>About PUFFINS Telescope Mission<\/p>\n<p>A PUFFIN (Polarimetry in the Ultraviolet to Find Features in INterStellar dust) is a SmallSat selected under NASA\u2019s highly competitive Astrophysics Pioneers programme.<br \/>\nIt is a NASA funded mission and is a joint effort between the University of Arizona, McDonald Observatory and other scientists.<br \/>\nIt involves sending up a small satellite that will contain a telescope with an aperture of about 10 inches to observe the ultraviolet light of about 70 stars.<br \/>\nIt will study the smallest grains of dust between the stars.<br \/>\nIt will observe them using UV spectropolarimetry,<br \/>\nIt gives scientists insights into the characteristics, presence, and behavior of interstellar dust particles.<br \/>\nThe measurements are supposed to provide information on the particles\u2019 characteristics and how they behave in relation to the magnetic field of the Milky Way galaxy.<br \/>\nThe mission intends to bridge the gaps that exist in existing astronomy studies, especially those concerning the observation of interstellar dust particles using ultraviolet polarisation.<\/p>\n<p>Interstellar dust refers to particles that exist in the space between the stars.<br \/>\nThese particles have sizes ranging from less than 50 nanometers; therefore, they cannot be detected using the traditional optical or infrared techniques.<\/p>\n<p>Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/news\/national\/karnataka\/bengalurean-to-lead-nasas-20-million-space-telescope-mission\/article71588128.ece\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">TH<\/a><\/p>\n<p>PUFFINS Telescope Mission FAQs<\/p>\n<p class=\"faq-question\" style=\"margin: 0.5em 0;padding:10px;color:#000;cursor:pointer\">Q1.
