{"id":634863,"date":"2026-10-19T02:24:32","date_gmt":"2026-10-19T02:24:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/634863\/"},"modified":"2026-10-19T02:24:32","modified_gmt":"2026-10-19T02:24:32","slug":"mountain-lion-euthanized-after-multiple-sightings-in-laramie-county","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/634863\/","title":{"rendered":"Mountain lion euthanized after multiple sightings in Laramie County"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CHEYENNE, Wyo. \u2014 The Laramie County Sheriff\u2019s Office recently announced that, after multiple sightings in Laramie County, a mountain lion was euthanized due to safety precautions. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A social media post from the LCSO says that it received reports of a mountain lion at approximately 5:30, 7:30 and 8:15 a.m. The sightings were reported near 1300 Hackamore Road.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">LCSO deputies and Wyoming Game and Fish responded to the area to locate the mountain lion. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The release says that, despite several sightings, deputies were unable to safely capture and relocate the animal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt repeatedly crossed property lines, went beneath porches, and moved near children and livestock,\u201d the release states. \u201cWith no safe opportunity to contain it, deputies had to euthanize the animal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The release notes that deputies were in contact with neighbors in the area, who were notified directly. Because nearby residents had been notified, a broader public notification was not issued at the time. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The release also says that, shortly after the first mountain lion\u2019s capture, a female mountain lion was also reported in the area. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIf you see a mountain lion or signs of one nearby, call 911 immediately,\u201d the release warns. \u201cDeputies will work to involve Wyoming Game and Fish as quickly as possible.
