{"id":636233,"date":"2026-10-20T11:32:11","date_gmt":"2026-10-20T11:32:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/636233\/"},"modified":"2026-10-20T11:32:11","modified_gmt":"2026-10-20T11:32:11","slug":"sensor-tower-data-shows-the-yawning-gap-between-gta-6-and-everything-else","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/636233\/","title":{"rendered":"Sensor Tower data shows the yawning gap between GTA 6 and everything else"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An analysis from Sensor Tower shows just how far ahead GTA 6 is in terms of preorders when compared with some of the biggest AAA games of the past six years.<\/p>\n<p>The analytics firm collected preorder data for recent huge hits such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2022), Diablo 4 (2023), Hogwarts Legacy (2023), and Marvel&#8217;s Spider-Man 2 (2023), then compared them with the preorder trajectory for GTA 6.<\/p>\n<p>Modern Warfare 2 was one of the most successful games of recent years: preorder numbers for the shooter were more than double the number for Diablo 4 at 45 days from launch, and Modern Warfare 2 had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamesindustry.biz\/modern-warfare-2-marks-biggest-opening-weekend-for-call-of-duty-at-800m\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the biggest opening weekend for Call of Duty at $800 million<\/a> (Black Ops 6 would later become <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamesindustry.biz\/call-of-duty-black-ops-6-breaks-records-for-game-pass-subscriptions\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the biggest launch in Call of Duty&#8217;s history in 2024<\/a>, but it was also the first CoD title to launch day and date on Game Pass).<\/p>\n<p>Currently, in terms of preorder numbers, GTA 6 is 148% ahead of Modern Warfare 2 at this point from launch.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"GTA 6 is 148% ahead of 2022's Modern Warfare 2 in terms of preorders at this point before launch\" data-autosize=\"crop_lossy\" data-lightbox=\"\" data-uri=\"GTA-VI-Preorder-analysis-vSharable-(1).png\" height=\"540\" loading=\"lazy\" style=\"aspect-ratio: 1.7777777777777777\" width=\"960\"\/><\/p>\n<p>GTA 6 is 148% ahead of 2022&#8217;s Modern Warfare 2 in terms of preorders at this point before launch  | Image credit: Sensor Tower<\/p>\n<p>However, it&#8217;s worth noting that this analysis does not cover boxed releases: Sensor Tower&#8217;s comparison data only covers digital preorders in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>The firm estimates that as of October 13, GTA 6 has now been preordered 6.08 million times, which equates to an estimated revenue of $594 million.
