BEND, Ore. — A Bend art studio is stocking its free art library in memory of 5-year-old Rhoam Summer, a boy who loved dinosaurs, sharks, unicorns and rainbows.

Rhoam’s pure heart is now helping people heal after the tragedy at Silver Rail Elementary.

Taylor Crawford, studio owner and lead art educator at Two Suns Art Studio, knows how important art and healing are.

“For kids in this situation, specifically, it gives them a place to express how they’re feeling without having to use words. You know, there’s so much power to just put, like, paint or a pencil to a paper and let out your emotions,” Crawford said.

The art studio received a donation to help spread more art into the community. Crawford knew exactly where to put the money.

“Immediately in my mind, I was like, let’s stock the free art library. And of course, the post going around for Rhoam and his family’s request for, like, really whimsical sharks and dinos and misunderstood creature art came to mind,” Crawford said.

Rhoam’s family asked the community to make art for their son.

“His parents said something along the lines of him telling stories about creatures that are misunderstood and need friendship,” Crawford said. “I feel like a lot of kids probably feel that way. And if we can give them the art supplies to feel understood and create friendship through that.”

The free art library represents everything the owners hope Rhoam would have liked. The cabinets are filled with wooden animals, stickers and paint so that people can get messy.

The materials are free to use. Crawford says to take what you need and leave what you don’t. Two Suns is located at 70 SW Century Drive.

“I hope people swing by and pick up materials and they take them home, and they sit around their table, and they create together, and they laugh and they really just make art in memory of Rhoam,” Crawford said.

Two Suns is also partnering with the Open Arts Center and Whimsy with Purpose to distribute free art kits to all Silver Rail Elementary School students.

[31
442,498,499,500,501,1459,156,440,111,43,139,69,312284
post-637011","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-arts-and-design","tag-arts","tag-arts-and-design","tag-artsanddesign","tag-artsdesign","tag-design","tag-email","tag-entertainment","tag-local","tag-new-zealand","tag-news","tag-newzealand","tag-nz","tag-silver_rail
["GET
