Young Sheldon<\/a>\u2019s Iain Armitage<\/a> has happily moved on from his show of seven seasons. In an interview<\/a> featured in Jessica Radloff\u2019s upcoming book, Young Sheldon: The (Juicier-Than-Meemaw\u2019s-Brisket) Inside Story of the Hit Comedy, an oral history on the hit prequel series, Armitage admits he wasn\u2019t upset that the show didn\u2019t go further than its natural endpoint. He felt it was \u201cheavy and annoying and weird\u201d to mourn the show\u2019s ending when he still had the rest of his life ahead of him. \u201cPlus, I wanted to be in Virginia. I wanted to be traveling, and I\u2019m happy to do whatever movie comes up. And my mom has always imbued me with a very healthy sense of ephemerality, and the fact that nothing good can last and everything changes, and that\u2019s a good thing,\u201d he adds. \u201cI would hate to be on a show playing 23-year-old Sheldon. That would suck. I wouldn\u2019t want to do that. So it was a perfect time to end it.\u201d He felt out of everyone on set, he was the \u201cmost happy\u201d about the show ending.<\/p>\n Armitage was offered to reprise his role as Sheldon in the spin-off of a spin-off, George and Mandy\u2019s First Marriage, but he declined. \u201cThey wanted Iain to be on the Thanksgiving episode\u2026 and they were kind and generous about it,\u201d Lee Armitage, Iain\u2019s mother, explains. \u201cThe more I think of it \u2026 we maybe could have gotten to a \u2018yes,\u2019 but he and his agent thought it was important to do other roles first. Maybe there would be some time in the future where it could happen, and that would be wonderful.\u201d Series co-creator Chuck Lorre felt \u201cdisappointed\u201d that Iain declined the invite but understood why. He says in the book, \u201cWe wanted this story to go forward for this family, and obviously Sheldon is a critical part of this family. The Thanksgiving episode that would have included him would have been wonderful to do, but their reasoning is understandable.\u201d<\/p>\n Iain still has a lot of love for the show and for his co-stars. \u201cLooking back now, it\u2019s nostalgic sad,\u201d he says. \u201cLike, I miss working at Warner Bros., I miss the crew and the people I love. I love the act of acting. I love doing it. It\u2019s fun. But not really specific moments.
