De Pasquale set a 1:09.0770s in his Chevrolet Camaro to head the Triple Eight Ford Mustang of Broc Feeney<\/a> at the end of 30 minutes.<\/p>\n

\u201cI really enjoy those sessions. It\u2019s really similar to Bathurst in quali where you get a few goes at it, get to psych yourself up, and have a couple of changes,\u201d said De Pasquale.<\/p>\n

\u201cReally enjoyable, rather than the knock-out and one-lap stuff.<\/p>\n

\u201cReally good. It\u2019s always fun. Obviously very happy that we got some dry running here just to see what we\u2019ve got. The car felt really good.\u201d<\/p>\n

Matt Payne<\/a> bounced back from his engine trauma in Practice 2 to put the Grove Racing entry third fastest.<\/p>\n

The top 10 was completed by Andre Heimgartner<\/a> (Brad Jones Racing), Chaz Mostert<\/a> (Walkinshaw TWG), Ryan Wood<\/a> (Walkinshaw TWG), Will Brown<\/a> (Triple Eight), Thomas Randle<\/a> (Tickford Racing), Kai Allen<\/a> (Grove Racing), and Cameron Waters<\/a> (Tickford Racing).<\/p>\n

The headline omission from the shootout was Dick Johnson Racing Brodie Kostecki<\/a> in 11th.<\/p>\n

Fellow Finals Series driver Jack Le Brocq (Matt Stone Racing) was only 17th.<\/p>\n

\u201cI made a little mistake on my last run through the last corner,\u201d said Kostecki.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not even sure whether we would have made it in anyway. I\u2019m just struggling in two corners.<\/p>\n

\u201cA little bit to work on but I know that the race car will be fine. Really difficult to qualify around here and it was just lacking a little bit of confidence going in.<\/p>\n

There remains a question mark over Brown, however. He was put under investigation for allegedly impeding Jack Le Brocq approaching the final turn.<\/p>\n

Asked about the investigation, Brown replied: \u201cI think there was something. I moved over and let him got but we\u2019ll wait and see if it was too late.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo be honest, I\u2019m not too sure. I haven\u2019t watched it back yet.<\/p>\n

\u201cA bit confusing. A lot of people had headlights on while not running [on a hot lap].<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought it was Waters behind me who was on a warming lap.<\/p>\n

\u201cI moved out of the road so we\u2019ll have to have a look at it and see what happens.\u201d<\/p>\n

It was a messy session on the whole for Brown, who went down the escape road at the end of Main Beach Parade turning onto Breaker Street.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had a couple of average runs, just scrappy in the middle there,\u201d said Brown.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had a really good run and then I locked up and went down the escape road on a really good lap.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven that last one I really ran down there. Lucky to get through. Should be all right.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Top 10 Shootout gets underway on Saturday at 12:35am AEST\/local time.<\/p>\n
