I wanted to pay homage to Katniss, and this dress is so iconic, although the meaning of the look is not lost on me.”

She continued, “What makes Katniss’s wedding dress so powerful to me is that it begins as a costume meant to turn her into a spectacle but she and Cinna turn it into something so powerful. It made me think of Maysilee’s refusal to let the Capitol strip away her humanity, ‘If you let them treat you like an animal, they will.’ One of the things I love most about The Hunger Games is the characters’ determination to hold onto who they are even when others are trying to define them. It’s truly incredible just how much deep meaning and storytelling is told through these costumes alone, it was such an incredible night getting to celebrate the wardrobe of these films. I’m still pinching myself.”

RELATED: ‘The Hunger Games: Sunrise On The Reaping’ Red Carpet Photos: All Of Joseph Zada & Mckenna Grace’s Looks From Press Tour

Grace also paid homage to Rachel Zegler from The Hunger Games prequel Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, Amandla Stenberg’s Rue from the very first Hunger Games film, and Jena Malone from when she attended a screening for Catching Fire in 2013.

RELATED: Jennifer Lawrence On Reprising ‘Hunger Games’ Role For ‘Sunrise On The Reaping’: “It Was So Emotional”

Scroll through the photo gallery below to see all the times McKenna Grace paid tribute to The Hunger Games past.

Mckenna Grace and her Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping co-stars have been on a worldwide press tour…

[32
430,156,29957,70295,111,139,69,80057,98914
post-649393","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-celebrities","tag-celebrities","tag-entertainment","tag-jennifer-lawrence","tag-mckenna-grace","tag-new-zealand","tag-newzealand","tag-nz","tag-the-hunger-games","tag-the-hunger-games-sunrise-on-the-reaping
["GET
