However, Stewart later conceded her statement \u201cdidn\u2019t go far enough\u201d and she issued an apology via Instagram admitting her costume was \u201cinsensitive\u201d and \u201cnot funny\u201d.<\/p>\n
She wrote: \u201cIt\u2019s hard to admit when you\u2019ve really screwed up. My earlier statement didn\u2019t go far enough.<\/p>\n
\u201cI know many people are suffering economically. Wearing a costume like I did was insensitive and not funny. I am very sorry. Martha.\u201d<\/p>\n
Stewart has previously been open about her vast wealth. She was once a billionaire at the height of her fame before legal troubles in the 2000s when she was convicted on charges relating to insider trading and sentenced to five months in prison.<\/p>\n
During a recent appearance on the Other People\u2019s Business podcast, Stewart admitted she used to earn around \u201cUS$65m a year in royalties\u201d from a previous deal with Kmart and she struggled as her empire collapsed but she\u2019s now built her business back up again.<\/p>\n
She said: \u201cI fell in a hole, and I lost about US$1b … [The] lawyers took me to the cleaners. … I\u2019m back 1793680097.
