He said: \u201cYou know, there\u2019s still a level in my head [where it feels] unjust and frustrating that he\u2019s not with us anymore.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, it just brought up those feelings, although I\u2019m still living with them anyway.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tomlinson also explained how Payne\u2019s death hit him harder because he\u2019d \u201cnever lost a friend\u201d, despite dealing with grief in the past.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was really, really, impossibly difficult for me to deal with losing Liam.<\/p>\n

\u201cNaively, I thought that because at this point, I\u2019m relatively well-versed in grief for my age, that it might soften the blow.<\/p>\n

\u201c[That was] super-naive. It\u2019s very different. I\u2019ve never lost a friend before.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tomlinson has also taken the time to dispel some misconceptions about his friend, insisting \u201canything that he got wrong in life\u201d was \u201conly through miscommunication\u201d rather than \u201cmalice\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was just a very misunderstood person, I think, from a public perspective,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
