Photo \/ Earth Sciences New Zealand, MetService<\/p>\n<p class=\"PIBTdnNRHybHVehKG\" style=\"display:none\">Northern New Zealand, Tonga, Wallis and Futuna and the Solomon Islands are likely to see one to two cyclones during the season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"PIBTdnNRHybHVehKG\" style=\"display:none\">Fiji is at risk of seeing two to three, while New Caledonia and Vanuatu are at risk of seeing three to four.<\/p>\n<p class=\"PIBTdnNRHybHVehKG\" style=\"display:none\">The rest of the South Pacific is at risk of encountering only one cyclone.<\/p>\n<p class=\"PIBTdnNRHybHVehKG\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cBetween two and four severe tropical cyclones reaching category 3 or higher may occur anywhere across the region, so all communities should remain prepared,\u201d ESNZ said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"PIBTdnNRHybHVehKG\" style=\"display:none\">ESNZ, MetService, the University of Newcastle and meteorological services across the Pacific Islands created the report, with ESNZ thanking the other organisations for their contributions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"PIBTdnNRHybHVehKG\" style=\"display:none\">ESNZ was formally known as Niwa &#8211; the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research &#8211; until July this year when it was merged with GNS Science to create the new organisation. <\/p>\n<p class=\"PIBTdnNRHybHVehKG\" style=\"display:none\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nzherald.co.nz\/nz\/the-daily-h-your-fast-smart-guide-to-the-days-biggest-headlines\/VQR5CULLQRECZP2ORSWPGDORBU\/?utm_source=nzherald&amp;utm_medium=article&amp;utm_id=nz_cta\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sign up to The Daily H<\/a>, a free newsletter curated by our editors and delivered straight to your inbox every weekday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"New Caledonia, Vanuatu and northern New Zealand are at a normal to elevated risk of tropical cyclones.
