\n\tHBO<\/a> has debuted a trailer<\/a> and release date for the first new<\/a> Game of Thrones<\/a><\/a> series in three years, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. The clip premiered at New York Comic Con on Oct. 9,\u00a0 teasing the six-episode season set to premiere Jan. 18. The series will star Peter Claffey as Ser Duncan the Tall, or Dunk.<\/p>\n

\n\tHBO describes the series, \u201cA century before the events of Game of Thrones,\u201d when \u201cTwo unlikely heroes wandered Westeros \u2026 a young, na\u00efve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne, and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe series\u2019 co-creator and author of the original Game of Thrones books, George R.R. Martin told Entertainment Weekly<\/a> he\u2019s thrilled with season one. \u201cNobody is thinking about magic,\u201d he told the publication about A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. \u201cThis could basically be 14th century Britain,\u201d he said. \u201cThis is hard nose, grind it out, gritty, medieval knights, cold with a really light, hopeful touch. It\u2019s a wonderful place to be. We are ground up in this series, we are starting right at the bottom. We\u2019re not with the lords and ladies, the kings and queens.\u201d The forthcoming season adapts its storyline form \u201cThe Hedge Knight\u201d, the first novella from Martin\u2019s Tales of Dunk and Egg.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Hollywood Reporter<\/a> notes that the cast of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will include Edward Ashley as Ser Steffon Fossoway, Youssef Kerkour as Steely Pate, Daniel Monks as Ser Manfred Dondarrion, Shaun Thomas as Raymun Fossoway, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor as Plummer, Danny Webb as Ser Arlan of Pennytree, and Henry Ashton as Daeron Targaryen.<\/p>\n
