{"id":7336,"date":"2025-09-07T04:35:10","date_gmt":"2025-09-07T04:35:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/7336\/"},"modified":"2025-09-07T04:35:10","modified_gmt":"2025-09-07T04:35:10","slug":"businesses-braced-for-booming-radio-2-party-trade","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/7336\/","title":{"rendered":"Businesses braced for booming Radio 2 party trade"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">City businesses have shared their hopes of booming trade thanks to the arrival of Radio 2 in the Park.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Performers including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/articles\/ce93kkx082no?xtor=AL-72-%5Bpartner%5D-%5Byahoo.north.america%5D-%5Blink%5D-%5Bnews%5D-%5Bbizdev%5D-%5Bisapi%5D\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Bryan Adams, Def Leppard and Olly Murs;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Bryan Adams, Def Leppard and Olly Murs<\/a> are due to perform to up to 65,000 people in Chelmsford until Sunday evening.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Preston City Council, which hosted the event last year, estimated it brought \u00a35.3m to the local economy there.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Luis Silva, a manager at the County Hotel, said bookings came in &#8220;very, very fast&#8221; after the festival was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/articles\/ce9vyg9d47do?xtor=AL-72-%5Bpartner%5D-%5Byahoo.north.america%5D-%5Blink%5D-%5Bnews%5D-%5Bbizdev%5D-%5Bisapi%5D\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:announced in June;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">announced in June<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;It is extremely important, not just for the hotel but for the whole Chelmsford area,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The gates at Hylands Park were opened to music lovers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/articles\/cm2z3jxmdkjo?xtor=AL-72-%5Bpartner%5D-%5Byahoo.north.america%5D-%5Blink%5D-%5Bnews%5D-%5Bbizdev%5D-%5Bisapi%5D\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:on Friday afternoon;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">on Friday afternoon<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">But Mr Silva said some guests arrived at the hotel at the start of the week so they could explore the area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;It is a boom on the economy, it helps quite a lot at a quiet time of year,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"Dean Coles has short brown hair and wears glasses and a black sweater. he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;It&#8217;s been a really nice buzz around the village.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Chelmsford is no stranger to hosting big events, having hosted V Festival several times between 1996 and 2017.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Also on the bill for Radio 2 in the Park are Belinda Carlisle, Jessie J and Ella Henderson.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"Susie Reynolds has blonde hair and is smiling while wearing a pink camouflage jacket.\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"650\" height=\"366\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"rounded-lg\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/e2c5059da6a4803d55c4679be3aa605f.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Susie Reynolds says people living close to the festival can benefit from its arrival [Jamie Niblock\/BBC]<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Susie Reynolds, who lives 15 minutes from the venue, rented out a parking space at her house for the festival.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">She explained: &#8220;It&#8217;s good for the local economy, good for the local area and brings a passive income for people living down this road.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Stephen Robinson, the Liberal Democrat leader of Chelmsford City Council, said he was &#8220;absolutely delighted&#8221;
