{"id":76365,"date":"2025-10-13T20:13:08","date_gmt":"2025-10-13T20:13:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/76365\/"},"modified":"2025-10-13T20:13:08","modified_gmt":"2025-10-13T20:13:08","slug":"keira-knightley-says-she-was-unaware-of-harry-potter-audiobook-boycott","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/76365\/","title":{"rendered":"Keira Knightley says she was unaware of Harry Potter audiobook boycott"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"iNwUpnfLcxPBLSL\" style=\"display:none\">Knightley\u2019s comments come weeks after Rowling blasted Harry Potter star Emma Watson and accused her of having poured \u201cmore petrol on the flames\u201d of the abuse she has been subjected to, even though the 35-year-old actress insisted she \u201ctreasures\u201d Rowling despite their differing opinions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"iNwUpnfLcxPBLSL\" style=\"display:none\">Rowling has suggested that Watson and her co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint \u2013 who starred as Hermione Granger, Harry Potter and Ron Weasley respectively in the film franchise \u2013 had used their connection to Harry Potter to act as \u201cde facto spokespeople\u201d for the series.<\/p>\n<p class=\"iNwUpnfLcxPBLSL\" style=\"display:none\">In a lengthy statement posted on social media, the 60-year-old author wrote: \u201cEmma and Dan in particular have both made it clear over the last few years that they think our former professional association gives them a particular right \u2013 nay, obligation \u2013 to critique me and my views in public.<\/p>\n<p class=\"iNwUpnfLcxPBLSL\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cYears after they finished acting in Potter, they continue to assume the role of de facto spokespeople for the world I created.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"iNwUpnfLcxPBLSL\" style=\"display:none\">Rowling explained that she feels \u201cprotective\u201d of the Harry Potter trio \u2013 who she has known since they were just 10 years of age \u2013 but can no longer stay silent on their criticism of her views.<\/p>\n<p class=\"iNwUpnfLcxPBLSL\" style=\"display:none\">She said: \u201cWhen you\u2019ve known people since they were 10 years old it\u2019s hard to shake a certain protectiveness.<\/p>\n<p class=\"iNwUpnfLcxPBLSL\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cUntil quite recently, I hadn\u2019t managed to throw off the memory of children who needed to be gently coaxed through their dialogue in a big scary film studio.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I&#8217;m seeing quite a bit of comment about this, so I want to make a couple of points.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not owed eternal agreement from any actor who once played a character I created.
