{"id":76376,"date":"2025-10-13T20:19:11","date_gmt":"2025-10-13T20:19:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/76376\/"},"modified":"2025-10-13T20:19:11","modified_gmt":"2025-10-13T20:19:11","slug":"slips-and-flooding-in-waikato-block-state-highway-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/76376\/","title":{"rendered":"Slips and flooding in Waikato block State Highway 3"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/4JZK69E_IMG_8259_jpg\" width=\"1050\" height=\"1400\" alt=\"Flooding on farmland at the base of the Awakino Gorge on Tuesday 14 October 2025.\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"photo-captioned__information\">\nFlooding on farmland at the base of the Awakino Gorge on Tuesday.<br \/>\nPhoto: Supplied \/ Bree Joyce\n<\/p>\n<p>Slips in Awakino Gorge have left some vehicles stuck and farmland is flooded as heavy rain hits the Waitomo district.<\/p>\n<p>A number of slips on State Highway 3, just north of Awakino, closed the road between Mokau and Piopio as a result of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rnz.co.nz\/news\/national\/575756\/weather-heavy-rain-and-thunderstorms-in-parts-while-hawkes-bay-heads-for-heat-in-high-20s\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">significant weather in the area<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Police said some truck drivers had been unable to turn back from the blockages but were otherwise safe.
