One of the absolute most wonderful bird moms and bird adoption advocates and educators is Wendy Albright, who has rescued five\u00a0Cockatoos<\/a>\u00a0and other\u00a0birds<\/a>, some with special health challenges. Wendy is always so patient and loving with her birds, so the following clip you’re about to see should come as no surprise.<\/p>\n

One of Wendy’s precious birds, named Sweet Pea, enjoys greeting people and other animals when she spends time with her mom outside. Just watch to see how darling Sweet Pea says, “Good morning” to all the ducks she sees.<\/p>\n

The adorable clip, shared on the TikTok account @theparrotlady<\/a>, has got everyone in their feelings. One person asked, “Why does this make me want to cry?” Another person said, “Sweet Pea just has the biggest heart ever.” Someone else added, “I love this so much. This is also what I say to ducks.”<\/p>\n

Someone else added, “This is how we know the difference between a Rescue Bird and a bird who has been loved throughout their life. My Rescue Bird came from a very rough home before me. She certainly likes to talk to the ducks; she just has much more colorful language<\/a> for them.” Awww. I’m sorry, but I would still love to hear it!<\/p>\n

How To Encourage a Cockatoo To Talk\"Image<\/p>\n

Teaching your Cockatoo or Parrot to talk takes patience, consistency, and lots of love, but it\u2019s one of the most rewarding experiences for bird parents.<\/p>\n

First, start with simple words or phrases your bird hears often, like \u201cHello,\u201d \u201cPretty bird,\u201d or \u201cI love you.\u201d Repeat them in a cheerful, consistent tone throughout the day. Parrots are excellent mimics, but they learn best from emotional cues. If your bird associates a phrase with positive attention, treats, or affection, they\u2019ll be much more likely to repeat it.<\/p>\n

Consistency is key. Choose one or two short phrases<\/a> to focus on at first, and say them during the same routine each day\u2014like greeting them in the morning or saying goodnight before bedtime.<\/p>\n

Birds also learn by association<\/a>, so pair words with actions. For example, say, \u201cTreat!\u201d right before you give a favorite snack, or \u201cGood morning!\u201d when you uncover their cage. Over time, they\u2019ll begin to link the sound with the meaning.<\/p>\n

Most importantly, praise and reward your bird<\/a> when they try to mimic you. The more fun and interactive the experience, the more likely your feathered friend will start chatting back\u2014and maybe even telling the neighborhood ducks, \u201cI love you,\u201d too.<\/p>\n
