The Pretenders\u2019 Chrissie Hynde is back out on her own, this time with a duets collection, to lead a week of new music releases that also new titles from Ty Dolla $ign, Boz Scaggs, Pink Floyd\u2019s David Gilmour, Vince Gill, Tame Impala and a banjo-toting Steve Martin, as well as the final live performance by the late Chick Corea (all subject to change)…<\/p>\n
Album of the Week \u2014 Chrissie Hynde & Pals, \u201cDuets Special\u201d (Rhino\/Parlophone): Though truculent in nature at times, the Akron native and Pretenders founder does play nice with others \u2014 certainly on this set of 13 cover collaborations that follows her 2021 album of Bob Dylan Songs. Hynde is joined by peers (Debbie Harry, k.d. lang, Depeche Mode\u2019s Dave Gahan, the late Mark Lanegan) and proteges (Cat Power, the Killers\u2019 Brandon Flowers, Garbage\u2019s Shirley Manson) and trades off with fellow Akronite Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys on the Righteous Brothers\u2019 \u201c(You\u2019re My) Soul and Inspiration.\u201d Julian Lennon, Rufus Wainwright, Carleen Anderson and Low\u2019s Alan Sparhawk are also part of the party here. <\/p>\n
