SpaceX may be in the news right now for its latest Starship test from Texas, but the company is also planning another mission from the Vandenberg Space Force Base.

Among spaceflight enthusiasts, all eyes have been on Texas amid SpaceX’s latest Starship rocket test from its Starbase headquarters. But billionaire Elon Musk’s company is also still carrying out operations from the West Coast.

That includes plans for SpaceX to help launch military satellites into orbit from Southern California. The upcoming mission, the second of 10 Tranche 1 satellite deployments from the company’s Falcon 9 spacecraft for the Space Development Agency, will get off the ground from the Vandenberg Space Force Base.

Located in Santa Barbara County, Vandenberg has become well-known among spectators who are eager to see rockets thundering high into the sky.

Ready to catch a glimpse of a spacecraft blasting off from the ground or soaring overhead?

Several locations across the region should provide a view. Just keep in mind that postponements due to weather or issues with rockets are common with spaceflight, so plan accordingly.

Check back with the VC Star for any updates on the impending launch.

In the meantime, here’s what to know about the upcoming SpaceX rocket launch from Vandenberg, as well as some suggested locations where you might be able to watch it.

What is the Vandenberg Space Force Base?
