The iconic Cardrona Hotel has been sold to a group of mystery New Zealand buyers for an undisclosed sum.<\/p>\n
The 162-year-old heritage-listed pub nestled between W\u0101naka and Queenstown will be run by W\u0101naka man Warren Barclay after being bought by a group of NZ investors<\/p>\n
The group, who wanted to remain low key, would take over ownership on November 3.<\/p>\n
Mr Barclay, the owner of hospitality business Experience Group, would be the\u00a0Cardrona Hotel publican.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Cardrona Hotel holds a unique place in the hearts of so many, and we\u2019re committed to preserving its heritage while exploring thoughtful ways to enhance its boutique accommodation, dining, event offerings and overall guest experience.<\/p>\n
Outgoing owner Cade Thornton, who has overseen the hotel\u2019s operations for the past 13 years, thanked the local community and guests for their support.<\/p>\n

The sale of the hotel attracted national and international attention with more than 130,016 views online in five weeks.<\/p>\n
