Kim Kardashian\u2019s SKIMS shapewear company has launched a new product, which has created quite the controversy on social media<\/a>, especially X. While many remarked that the $32 price tag is quite high, others pointed out that the product is nothing new and is called \u201cmerkins.\u201d<\/p>\n

The product is listed as \u201cfaux hair micro string thong\u201d on SKIMS\u2019 official website. The \u201climited edition\u201d item is available in 12 shades, and the size ranges from \u201cXXS\u201d to \u201c4X\u201d<\/p>\n

How did social media react?<\/p>\n

An individual posted, \u201cShe’s making merkins now?\u201d Another added, \u201c$32 for something fake which can be obtained naturally?!\u201d A third commented, \u201cWas there a… demand for this? I’m trying to understand.\u201d A fourth wrote, \u201cWe should return to the Stone Age at this point cause wt*.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kim Kardashian on SKIMS:<\/p>\n

In a 2023 interview with Time Magazine, Kim Kardashian had opened up about the brand and explained that it was born out of a “very vulnerable” place.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s just a part of me,” she told the outlet, adding, “I take it really personally. It started off of my body and my shapes, and it\u2019s very vulnerable.”<\/p>\n

She created the brand with Jens Grede’s help. The brand launched during the pandemic offers a range of skin tones and various sizes.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt started off with simply finding shapewear that was a skin tone that would match my color,\u201d Kardashian told TIME. “I used to take my shapewear and dye it with tea bags and coffee in the bathtub.”<\/p>\n
