He would have been the only one to challenge James Tedesco for the Dally M by the end of the year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Dragons will be one to watch with him, he\u2019s going to look at a potential desire to return to Sydney, he just had a child and just got married.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut they love him at the Warriors&#8230; it\u2019s going to be hard for him to leave that joint if he does end up going. I think the offer is good, I don\u2019t think it\u2019s going to be a money thing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Metcalf won\u2019t sign a new deal until after the November 1 deadline to gauge the interest in his services on the open market.<\/p>\n<p>The Dragons have also previously been rumoured to have made a play to recruit Titans gun Jayden Campbell, but it remains to be seen if they see him as a halfback or fullback.<\/p>\n<p>Metcalf was the form player in the NRL in 2025 and leading the Dally M Medal race before an ACL injury ruined his and the Warriors\u2019 season.<\/p>\n<p>Currently on a deal worth $550,000 Metcalf could double his pay on the open market or drive up his value for his next contract if he stays with the Warriors.<\/p>\n<p>WANTAWAY EELS\u2019 U-TURN<\/p>\n<p>Wantaway Eels star Bailey Simonsson is reportedly set to remain at the club after a sit-down meeting with head coach Jason Ryles.<\/p>\n<p>Simonsson was left disgruntled in August after Dylan Brown was picked ahead of him to feature in the centres, despite departing the club at the season\u2019s end.<\/p>\n<p>The flyer requested permission to negotiate with rival clubs, and his wish was granted after his relationship with Ryles deteriorated.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kayosports.com.au\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">However, speaking to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.smh.com.au\/sport\/nrl\/i-had-to-look-in-the-mirror-how-simonsson-healed-ryles-rift-20251015-p5n2lg.html\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">SMH<\/a>, Simonsson revealed a meeting with Ryles has cleared the air and the Eels is the club he wants to play for, with two years remaining on his current deal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere were some things away from the field that I wasn\u2019t dealing with very well, injuries and other things in my life that I didn\u2019t really deal with well,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI spoke to Rylesy and assured him I wanted to be at the club and put my best foot forward for the club. I do love playing at the Eels, so it was about staying there.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cObviously, there was that stuff going on where I was able to talk to other clubs. Once I sat down, looked at myself in the mirror, looked at where I\u2019m at, I worked out that I had to do better, work on myself.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s been a tough couple of years, so it\u2019s about getting my body right. It\u2019s about doing well for the club because they have been good to me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had a good chat, and Rylesy spoke about wanting me to be a part of the club. It was a good conversation, I have a lot of time for him, and [I am] appreciative of him for the whole process with the club.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Simonsson also revealed he prefers to play on the wing, than in the centres, with a spot in the backline potentially opening up.<\/p>\n<p>Zac Lomax has been linked with a lucrative switch to rebel competition R360, and if that move eventuates he would earn a 10-year ban from ARLC competitions.<\/p>\n<p>PANTHERS FLYER TARGETED BY RIVAL<\/p>\n<p>The Panthers could reportedly be set to lose another talented young gun, with the Titans eyeing a play for Jesse McLean.<\/p>\n<p>The brother of Casey, Jesse has only managed four first grade games in three years, stuck behind a log jam of outside backs talent at the foot of the mountain.<\/p>\n<p>According to Code Sports, the 20-year-old could be set to request an early release from his current contract should a rival come knocking for his services.<\/p>\n<p>The Titans could reportedly be that club, with figures within the Gold Coast\u2019s ranks holding the belief McLean could be a consistent NRL player.<\/p>\n<p>McLean is contracted until the end of the 2028 season, the same year his brother also comes off-contract.<\/p>\n<p>The Panthers have already lost another flyer going into the 2026 season, with David Fale signing a two-year deal to join Shane Flanagan\u2019s squad.<\/p>\n<p>Jesse McLean in action against Canberra.Source: Supplied<\/p>\n<p>PEZET\u2019S NEW SUITOR<\/p>\n<p>There are rumblings that the Broncos could enter the race for sought after free agent halfback Jonah Pezet. <\/p>\n<p>It was reported this week that the race for Pezet\u2019s signature was down to the Cowboys, Eels and Storm but according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailytelegraph.com.au\/sport\/nrl\/rabbitohs-offfield-staff-revamp-head-of-performance-steps-away-panthers-trainer-corey-bocking-joins-club\/news-story\/7fef4fd6086418cb6e87eac9666c40af\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Code Sports,<\/a> those two clubs are now wary that the 2025 premiership winners are looming.<\/p>\n<p>Pezet could end up staying in Melbourne but given that the Storm\u2019s halves situation looks set, the 22-year-old will likely need to head elsewhere to find the opportunity he deserves.<\/p>\n<p>Code Sports have reported that Pezet will make a decision in the next two weeks. <\/p>\n<p>Both the Eels and Cowboys are interested in signing Pezet long-term, but is also open to nabbing the promising half on a loan deal for next year. <\/p>\n<p>At either club, Pezet would form a lethal halves combination with superstars Mitch Moses or Tom Dearden. <\/p>\n<p>The Broncos\u2019 rumoured interest is an intriguing development.<\/p>\n<p>Adam Reynolds is under contract for 2026 but the veteran half had several injury issues this season and was carried off the field in the decider due to a hamstring injury. <\/p>\n<p>Jonah Pezet is set to make a decision on his future in the next couple of weeks.Source: Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Pezet and Broncos five-eighth Ezra Mam could create a formidable halves duo for years to come, however Brisbane do have some salary cap concerns, especially if they end up signing Payne Haas to a mammoth extension as expected.<\/p>\n<p>While he didn\u2019t name the Broncos, Pezet\u2019s agent Braith Anasta said on his BTFU podcast that another team outside of the Eels, Cowboys and Storm have shown interest. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ll say this, the one\u2019s that have been reported \u2013 Parramatta, Cowboys and Melbourne \u2013 are right.
