EastEnders star Matthew Morrison has revealed whether he’d ever return to his role as Felix Baker in the future. Felix made a dramatic exit from Walford<\/a> earlier this year when he left for a new life in Spain with Bernie, after finding out the grisly truth about his cousin Keanu’s death.<\/p>\n

But Matthew has spoken about whether he’d ever step into Felix’s shoes again in an exclusive interview with Soap Scoop<\/a>, the weekly podcast from Inside Soap<\/a> magazine with cast chats every Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Reflecting on his character’s exit<\/a>, Matthew said: “I’m glad that he wasn’t killed off. It’s always nice to keep the door open. It has been the privilege of my life to play that role, and I would always consider going back. It’s a lovely place and it’s like a big family.<\/p>\n

“It’s a gorgeous place and it will forever hold a place in my heart. If they ever were to ask me to come back again \u2013 I don’t know how they would do it, but I would seriously consider it.”<\/p>\n

Felix was introduced to Albert Square back in 2022, and made soap history as EastEnders’ first regular drag queen character \u2013 through his glamorous drag persona Tara Misu.<\/p>\n

While Felix was in a relationship with Johnny before his exit, things broke down in dramatic fashion, and Johnny is now pursuing a romance with Callum<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“I think they could have gone the distance if his mother didn’t kill my cousin, but that is a slight problem!” Matthew laughed, when speaking about this unlikely romance. “I would have liked it to work out, I think they could have been a really nice couple. <\/p>\n

“I really enjoyed working with Charlie [Suff, who plays Johnny]. He’s such a giving actor and such a nice person to be around, and it was great working with him.”<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Matthew is currently starring as the character Christopher in a new production of the play Blue\/Orange<\/a> alongside former Corrie<\/a> villain John Mitchie, which is playing at the Greenwich Theatre until Saturday 25 October.<\/p>\n

“It is a massive departure from Felix, and I kind of like that,” Matthew said about his new role. “I was worried that I might be pigeonholed into a certain type of character. So for this to be my first job out of EastEnders is a blessing, because Christopher is world’s away from Felix. I’m still finding things in Christopher that I didn’t think I would find.”<\/p>\n
