\n\tJon Stewart<\/a> addressed the \u201cNo Kings\u201d protests<\/a> that took place over the weekend on a new episode of The Daily Show<\/a>, describing it as \u201ca great day for democracy and, apparently, an even better day for people across this country who always got cast as \u2018ensemble\u2019 in their high school\u2019s musical.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tStewart recounted Fox News\u2019 dramatic response to the protests, playing a series of clips promising a \u201ccrazy\u201d rally filled with Antifa members and Marxists. \u201cAnd so this weekend we sat in our bunkers, doors locked, windows boarded, muskets and cyanide pills at the ready, prepared for whatever the hardest-core had in store,\u201d Stewart said. \u201cDo your worst! Display your Marxism to its fullest.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe continued, \u201cActually, there was kind of an incredible turnout that was somewhat inspiring: seven million Americans, zero mass shootings. Zero!\u201d The host showed a photo of the enthusiastic crowd reaction. \u201cThat\u2019s just sad,\u201d he quipped. \u201cNo mass shootings? My God. I look forward to Republicans apologizing sincerely for implying that these Americans were\u2014 what\u2019s the word I\u2019m looking for\u2014deplorable.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tFox News, of course, did not backtrack, with reporters instead saying that the protestors looked silly not serious. \u201cMake up your mind, Fox,\u201d Stewart replied. \u201cYou complained it would be a terrifyingly shit-your-pants protest. And now you are complaining about how boringly unpants-shitting it was.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe news network mainly complained that many of the protestors were old white Boomers. \u201cExtra, extra! Read all about it: This country has too many angry old white people, says\u2014hold on\u2014Fox News,\u201d Stewart said. \u201cFox News says, \u2018Why are old white people so angry?\u2019 \u2018Fox News mad that there are so many old white people in America.’\u201d He added, \u201cI don\u2019t think Fox News is mad. I think they\u2019re jealous.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tStewart then showed footage of the Tea Party protests during the Obama era. \u201cImagine a bunch of old white people in costumes angrily protesting the direction and overreach of an ever-encroaching federal government,\u201d he joked. \u201cI mean, preposterous. That\u2019s in no way a movement that could sweep the midterms and then be harnessed by a charismatic demagogue to remake an entire political party. I mean, it\u2019s laughable.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe host broke down some of the happenings at protests around the country, including dancers and a group acting out a scenario where ICE agents were \u201cbeaten\u201d by Uncle Sam on top of the Constitution. \u201cLadies and gentlemen, I cannot stress this enough: This is why you do not cut funding for the arts,\u201d Stewart said. \u201cYou don\u2019t want to do this shit on the cheap. Clearly, it was a great day for democracy and, apparently, an even better day for people across this country who always got cast as \u2018ensemble\u2019 in their high school\u2019s musical.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tStewart compared Trump with several past kings, finding the president lacking in his royal tendencies. Eventually, Stewart concluded, \u201cLook, maybe Trump isn\u2019t an all-powerful king, the kind who can do whatever he wants. But he\u2019s undeniably king-adjacent, king-esque, moving for more. He\u2019s the imitation crab of kings right now.
