butchery has won the supreme award<\/a> in the past decade. <\/p>\nJudge Hannah Miller Childs said about the sausage: “The grind was beautiful, the fat ratio was spot on, and all the ingredients were nicely incorporated. <\/p>\n
“It was a well-made sausage and filled with care.\u201d<\/p>\n
Aesthetic judge Sam Anderson said the snag stood out for its “beautifully balanced flavours”. <\/p>\n
“The truffle was the first thing to hit, blending seamlessly with the parmesan, while the beef flavour still came through. Getting that balance right can be tricky, but this one was very well executed.\u201d<\/p>\n
Dave Rossiter, owner of Westmere Butchery, said his team was “over the moon” and “just ecstatic”. <\/p>\n
“These awards are what we strive for, and they show that we, as butchers, are doing what we do best.”<\/p>\n
He described the sausage as a “good mix of flavours” with the “right amount” of parmesan, truffle, and beef. <\/p>\n
He said the business was able to win thanks to constant feedback from staff and customers. <\/p>\n
“They might say, ‘It wasn’t quite right’, we listen to them and we try and perfect it \u2013 and obviously we have done.” <\/p>\n

He said the winning sausage took around two or three months to fully perfect. <\/p>\n
Rossiter thanked his granddaughter, who he said was his “inspiration” for the sausage. <\/p>\n
Alongside the judged competition, members of the public also got the chance to try the sausages and vote on them. <\/p>\n
Pokeno Bacon in Auckland claimed the People’s Choice Award with their Chicken Con Queso sausage. <\/p>\n
