\n\t99 to Beat<\/a> is bringing the energy to Wednesday nights on Fox<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe series premiered on September 24, racking up 6.3M multi-platform viewers after seven days (including encores), per Nielsen, making it Fox\u2019s most-watched unscripted debut in nearly four years. That includes 3.9M linear viewers.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn that time frame, it also managed a 0.86 rating in the 18-49 demo, which is Fox\u2019s highest-rated unscripted telecast of the year, excluding its post-Super Bowl episode of The Floor.<\/p>\n

\n\t99 to Beat once again brought the heat the following week, making its time-period premiere on Wednesdays. That episode delivered 2.3M viewers in seven days, which, while down from the premiere, is still Fox\u2019s most-watched Wednesday 9 p.m. telecast in more than five months, since the Season 3 finale of The Floor.<\/p>\n

\n\tSpeaking of The Floor, the Rob Lowe-hosted game show joined forces with 99 to Beat on October 1 to bring Fox its most-watched Wednesday since May, averaging 2.6M viewers.<\/p>\n

\n\tKen Jeong<\/a> and Erin Andrews<\/a> host 99 to Beat, bringing a combination of the former\u2019s comedic energy and the latter\u2019s high-pressure sports acumen to the hilarious challenges, which pit 100 contestants head-to-head for a chance at $1M.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI think what I bring to these shows, especially in unscripted, is energy and genuine enthusiasm. I think you can\u2019t fake that,\u201d Jeong, who is also a judge on Fox\u2019s The Masked Singer, told Deadline in a recent interview. \u201cI think that having that muscle already practiced after 13 seasons [on The Masked Singer] really helped me for this.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBelieve it or not, it wasn\u2019t the lively energy he brings to The Masked Singer that actually sealed the deal on this gig, though. It was actually March Madness.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI went to Duke undergrad, and I went to the Final Four this past year, and so they just saw me rambunctiously cheering on my team, and they were like, \u2018People don\u2019t know that side of you, and you can bring that energy to 99 to Beat,’\u201d he says.<\/p>\n

\n\tFor her part, Andrews says she\u2019s developed some helpful sensibilities on the sidelines that she can apply here, telling us: \u201cLook, I have two of the best up in the booth, and Kevin Burkhart and Tom Brady. Tom knows the game better than I ever will. But what I can help those guys up there and the audience [with] is things that I observe that the cameras can\u2019t catch \u2014\u00a0quarterback coming off yelling at the offensive line, the defensive coordinator saying something to the front before they try to stop, the Eagles tush push, were there false starts, were there not.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSimilarly, for 99 to Beat, she adds, \u201cI can kind of sniff out who\u2019s having problems here, who\u2019s freaking out, who\u2019s kind of getting a little lippy. That\u2019s what I do for a living. It also drives my husband crazy, because I have 15 voices in my head.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe pair spoke highly of working with one another and even more highly of the show they\u2019re apart of.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cTo be with Erin, who is just a broadcast genius, it\u2019s just another level of gameplay and loving sports and loving competition,\u201d Jeong said. Added Andrews: \u201cIt\u2019s almost too good to be true, the story lines, the stakes, the competition level\u2026I\u2019m along for the ride, and it\u2019s a good one.\u201d<\/p>\n
