{"id":97747,"date":"2025-10-24T02:40:09","date_gmt":"2025-10-24T02:40:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/97747\/"},"modified":"2025-10-24T02:40:09","modified_gmt":"2025-10-24T02:40:09","slug":"new-pirate-ship-ride-sets-sail-at-rainbows-end","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/97747\/","title":{"rendered":"New Pirate Ship ride sets sail at Rainbow&#8217;s End"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The brand-new Pirate Ship ride set sail on its maiden voyage at Rainbow&#8217;s End this morning.<\/p>\n<p>Dubbed Pacifica after the ocean it travelled to New Zealand on, the 13m-long ship can seat up to 50 passengers and swings 75 degrees to each side.<\/p>\n<p>Guests in the back rows experience a moment of weightlessness at over 20m in the air as the ship swings downward.<\/p>\n<p>The original Pirate Ship was decommissioned in 2017 after nearly 40 years of service, retired only due to the limited availability of replacement parts.<\/p>\n<p>Rainbow&#8217;s End began work in late 2022 on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1news.co.nz\/2024\/09\/18\/guest-favourite-ride-to-make-return-to-rainbows-end-in-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">a replacement<\/a>. The new ship was built to rigorous specifications by leading German manufacturer Huss Park Attractions.<\/p>\n<p>Rainbow&#8217;s End chief executive Susan Mudie said it was &#8220;such a thrill&#8221; to see the first guests ride the new Pirate Ship this morning.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re so excited to finally welcome everyone to sail on Pacifica and can\u2019t wait to hear the laughter and see the excitement as guests are swept up in the story &#8211; it\u2019s truly a ride for all ages. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The new Pirate Ship represents significant investment for Rainbow\u2019s End, and we\u2019re looking forward to\u00a0Kiwi families climbing aboard to make treasured memories together.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The brand-new Pirate Ship ride set sail on its maiden voyage at Rainbow&#8217;s End this morning.
