{"id":97951,"date":"2025-10-24T05:03:21","date_gmt":"2025-10-24T05:03:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/97951\/"},"modified":"2025-10-24T05:03:21","modified_gmt":"2025-10-24T05:03:21","slug":"nelson-man-remanded-after-police-standoff-and-bomb-threat-charges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/97951\/","title":{"rendered":"Nelson man remanded after police standoff and bomb threat charges"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dptlwVDgxxGx\" style=\"display:none\">Police said yesterday they <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nzherald.co.nz\/nz\/police-attending-standoff-in-maitai-nelson-nearby-residents-evacuated\/ED6NEN4WHFH2PIH4257KRCGFWU\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.nzherald.co.nz\/nz\/police-attending-standoff-in-maitai-nelson-nearby-residents-evacuated\/ED6NEN4WHFH2PIH4257KRCGFWU\/\">received a report of a person making threats<\/a> inside a private address on Hardy St East about 3.30pm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dptlwVDgxxGx\" style=\"display:none\">Officers, including the Armed Offenders Squad and police negotiation team, were called. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dptlwVDgxxGx\" style=\"display:none\">Cordons were put in place and some residents evacuated to a local school as a precaution.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dptlwVDgxxGx\" style=\"display:none\">Cordons were lifted last night and residents were able to return to their homes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dptlwVDgxxGx\" style=\"display:none\">The man, who was supported by several people in the public gallery, said \u201cI love you all\u201d, as he was led from the dock.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dptlwVDgxxGx\" style=\"display:none\">He was remanded in custody by consent to appear again on November 18, and was likely to enter pleas then.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dptlwVDgxxGx\" style=\"display:none\">Tracy Neal is a Nelson-based Open Justice reporter at NZME.
