Co-created by Sherman-Palladino\u2019s husband, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tvinsider.com\/people\/daniel-palladino\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Daniel Palladino<\/a>, the series ran for seven seasons, with the final episode airing in 2007 on The CW.<\/p>\n<p data-wp-block-name=\"core\/paragraph\" data-wp-block=\"{\">While pitching several shows to the WB, Sherman-Palladino said she mentioned her idea for Gilmore Girls as a \u201clast-ditch thing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-wp-block-name=\"core\/paragraph\" data-wp-block=\"{\">\u201cI said, \u2018I\u2019ve got this sort of thing that\u2019s like a mother and daughter, and they\u2019re more like friends than mother-daughter,\u2019 and they\u2019re like, \u2018Oh, we\u2019ll buy that one,\u2019\u201d she told THR.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"354\" height=\"289\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-36541\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/TCDGIGI_EC001-354x289.jpg\" alt=\"GILMORE GIRLS, &lt;a href=\"  \/><\/p>\n<p data-wp-block-name=\"core\/paragraph\" data-wp-block=\"{\">According to Sherman-Palladino, the success of Gilmore Girls boiled down to \u201calchemy,\u201d admitting that she didn\u2019t think the series would be greenlit today.<\/p>\n<p data-wp-block-name=\"core\/paragraph\" data-wp-block=\"{\">She explained, \u201cBecause we were really left alone to build our worlds and our characters. [Warner Bros.] gave up on even trying to give us notes on the scripts. They didn\u2019t understand the scripts. It wasn\u2019t soapy enough for them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-wp-block-name=\"core\/paragraph\" data-wp-block=\"{\">Sherman-Palladino continued, \u201cThere were too many pop culture references they didn\u2019t understand. At every turn, we were not necessarily what they wanted or what they thought they needed, but it was a different time. Today, a Gilmore Girls\u00a0would not get on the air. No way, no how.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-wp-block-name=\"core\/paragraph\" data-wp-block=\"{\">Later during her interview with THR, the showrunner opened up about the high-stress nature of filming for Gilmore Girls.<\/p>\n<p data-wp-block-name=\"core\/paragraph\" data-wp-block=\"{\">\u201cWe were all in a panic constantly, so there was no cozy vibe at all. It was very frantic,\u201d she confessed. \u201cWe were shooting 80 pages in eight days, so 10 pages a day with no hiatuses and no breaks, and we were doing 22 episodes. I don\u2019t know how we did it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-wp-block-name=\"core\/paragraph\" data-wp-block=\"{\">Sherman-Palladino added, \u201cWe were not a show that could go back and reshoot anything. If we didn\u2019t get it, we didn\u2019t get it. There was no fixing it later. If the sun was going down on one location day and we didn\u2019t have work in the camera, we weren\u2019t getting the work in the camera. It was just the kind of show it was, very high stress all the time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-wp-block-name=\"core\/paragraph\" data-wp-block=\"{\">Despite the hurdles Gilmore Girls faced, it remains a beloved early \u201900s TV show that fans continue to re-watch today \u2014 so much so, that in 2016, a four-episode revival series, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tvinsider.com\/show\/gilmore-girls-a-year-in-the-life\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life<\/a>, dropped on Netflix.
