The Federation of the Islamic Associations of New Zealand (Fianz) advocacy chairman Abdur Razzaq told the Herald the mosque regularly receives threats. <\/p>\n

\u201cThis type of threat has happened before<\/a>. In each case, the Police has taken them very seriously.\u201d <\/p>\n

Razzaq said the police response had been amazing.<\/p>\n

\u201cPolice have increased their patrol of Kilbirnie Masjid. A very senior Police official [is] overseeing this case.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nureddin Abdurahman, a Southern Ward councillor for Wellington City Council, said he had received an email from FIANZ informing him of the threat.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are taking necessary precautions.\u201d<\/p>\n

Police told the Herald there is no immediate known threat to the community.<\/p>\n
