Ferrari has unveiled its latest one-off creation, the SC40: a bespoke berlinetta designed through the brand\u2019s Special Projects programme and inspired by one of Maranello\u2019s most legendary icons, the\u00a0F40<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Developed by Flavio Manzoni\u2019s Styling Centre, the SC40 borrows its mid-rear-engined V6 hybrid powertrain and chassis from the 296 GTB<\/a>, meaning performance figures that remain properly hair-raising: a combined 610kW\/740Nm and a top speed north of 330km\/h.<\/p>\n

The SC40\u2019s name is a deliberate nod to the 1987 F40, but this is no retro remix. Its angular surfacing and crisp, geometric volumes give it an industrial-modern edge, softened only by sleek transitions across its panels. The long nose, short tail and fixed rear wing finished in \u201cSC40 White\u201d create a stance that\u2019s as aggressive as it is architectural.<\/p>\n

Detail-obsessed design<\/p>\n

Every line appears intentional. The triangular carbon-fibre intakes reimagine classic NACA ducts, while vertical strokes along the body echo the structured rhythm of a design \u201cscore\u201d. Smoked Lexan louvres expose the hybrid V6 beneath, mirrored by smaller vents tucked behind the rear arches. The centre-exit exhaust, additively manufactured with titanium and carbon-fibre tips, anchors a tail that still hints (subtly) at its 296 GTB roots.<\/p>\n

Up front, the headlights sit in black housings that dive into the lower intake, flanked by boxy brake-cooling frames and neatly integrated daytime running lights. It\u2019s assertive without trying too hard, which is rare in the one-off world.<\/p>\n

F40 echoes inside, too<\/p>\n

Step in and the homage continues. Carbon-Kevlar, reinterpreted from the F40<\/a>, features across the cabin\u2014footwells, dash inserts, even the steering wheel. The seats blend Charcoal Alcantara with a vivid red Jacquard fabric, embroidered with Prancing Horses and the SC40 logo. The bespoke white exterior hue nods to the carbon-Kevlar weave beneath, glowing coolly under sunlight.<\/p>\n

A styling buck of the SC40 will be displayed at the Ferrari Museum in Maranello from 18 October. As always with Ferrari\u2019s Special Projects, only one client will ever own it, proof that, even in a digital age, craftsmanship still has the final word.<\/p>\n
