Dad White YW, the long-standing male at the South Cumbria reserve, has continued to bring fish to the new nest two up to two to three times a day – despite his three chicks from this year already leaving on migration.

A youngster from nest two, 9K4, was spotted on the webcam visiting his neighbour’s nest, however, he was quickly fended off by a ‘mysterious un-ringed juvenile.’

Speaking on the Cumbria Wildlife Trust Facebook page, a spokesperson said: “Here’s nest two youngster, 9K4, making a brief visit next door to have a look at the neighbours’ digs.

“They didn’t stay long as the mysterious un-ringed juvenile that’s been hanging around quickly saw them off!

“It’s possible that this osprey originated from a nearby failed nest. Strangely, dad White YW has been feeding them, bringing fish into the nest two or three times a day (perhaps through the goodness of his heart, perhaps he needs his eyesight checked, who knows).

“As for this year’s three youngsters, we suspect that they’ve now left the reserve to migrate south. The last time we saw them was 13/08/25 ~ 7K0 and 14/08/25 ~ 7K1 and 7K2.

“Even with the trio flying the nest, the Foulshaw Ospreys’ story continues!”
