The last 24 hours at Venice will forever be bookmarked as the festival of debuts. Alba Rohrwacher made waves in Jonathan Anderson’s first Dior Haute Couture, Ayo Edebiri pulled out two Chanel Haute Couture moments, and now—closing the loop in spectacular fashion—we get Julia Roberts in the first custom Atelier Versace gown under Dario Vitale’s direction for the After The Hunt premiere.

If anyone had doubts about whether Vitale could carry Donatella’s torch, consider them erased. Julia looked absolutely breathtaking in a navy long-sleeve gown featuring a meticulously handcrafted embroidered damier motif worked in black silk thread.
The way the asymmetrical solid panel cinched the waist gave her silhouette that sharp Versace sensuality we expect, but with a sophistication that whispers. It feels like Versace has entered a new era—luxury that’s sleeker, more considered, yet still undeniably glamorous.
I’m not usually excited when to comes to dark gowns. But this one? I was transfixed. The details—the texture, the craftsmanship, the modern restraint—were everything. It’s not just Julia Roberts in Atelier Versace. It’s Julia Roberts announcing, with effortless authority, that the house is alive and ready for its next chapter.
Chopard jewels completed her look.
Stylist: Elizabeth Stewart.
