Neighbours have spoken of their shock following a horror stabbing on a road in Newton Heath.
Police and ambulance crews were called to Gilmerton Drive on Friday at around 7.25pm to reports of a disturbance.
Greater Manchester Police have since confirmed that a man in his 20s has been taken to hospital with serious injuries. HIs injuries are consistent with stabs wounds, the force confirmed.
Enquiries are ongoing.
There was a heavy police presence, with a police helicopter seen circling the area for at least an hour. The road remains cordoned off as officers remain at the scene.

One neighbour said that police were at the scene from around 7.30pm. She said: “From what I have heard someone was stabbed.
“I hate living round here, things like this are always happening. I hate it.”
Another woman said: “It’s disgusting round here, something’s always happening.” A little boy stood next to her watching said: “This is a dangerous street.”
Another neighbour said that armed police were at the scene earlier this evening. “All I’ve heard was that someone’s been stabbed,” they said.

Images and video from the scene showed police vans, cars, an air ambulance response unit and a Tactical Aid Unit (TAU) van.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “We were called around 7.25pm (29/08/25) to a disturbance on Gilmerton Drive.
“Emergency services attended and a man in his 20s was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Enquiries are ongoing.”
