Ryan Moore is expected to miss the next few months after scans showed a fracture to his right femur, Aidan O’Brien has revealed.
Moore had been ruled out of five rides at the Curragh earlier on Saturday, but O’Brien has revealed the full extent of the 41-year-old’s injury.
It means Moore is set to miss all of the autumn’s biggest meetings, including the St Leger meeting at Doncaster, Irish Champions Festival and the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe weekend at Longchamp.
Moore was in action at York’s Ebor festival, where he had three winners including Group 1 success with Minnie Hauk, and his most recent ride came at Deauville last Sunday.
The absence of one of the world’s leading riders is set to pose a major headache for O’Brien, particularly in a fortnight’s time when the St Leger meeting coincides with the Irish Champions Festival.
O’Brien’s number two rider, Wayne Lordan, is also set to miss both meetings due to a whip suspension he picked up after riding a winner at Goodwood last Sunday.
