Two men have been arrested on suspicion of rape in Birmingham city centre.

West Midlands Police said officers were called to Ladywell Walk, at around 7.45am, this morning, Sunday, August 31.

It had followed reports that a man, aged in his 20s, had been attacked.

Police said the suspects, aged 29 and 52, were held on suspicion of rape following the city centre incident.

The men remain in police custody.

The investigation is ongoing.

Officers were seen standing by the crime scene, while two police cars were spotted this morning.

A police spokesman told BirminghamLive: “Two men aged 52 and 29 have been arrested on suspicion of rape following an incident in Birmingham city centre.

“We were called to Ladywell Walk at around 7.45am this morning (31 August) to reports a man in his 20s had been attacked.

“The man is being supported by specialist officers.

“Our investigation is at an early stage and the two men arrested remain in custody.”
