Canelo Alvarez was once asked about a fight against Terence Crawford but the Mexican champion turned down the clash.
On September 13, Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford are set to clash in one of the biggest boxing fights in recent years, as they fight for the undisputed super middleweight title.
Earlier this year, the two faced off for the first time and UFC boss Dana White had to step in the middle of the two to stop them from clashing as tensions began to rise.
Although we are now just a few weeks out from the highly anticipated clash, the two have been linked to fight each other before, but the Mexican wasn’t keen on the idea.

After defending his title several times with some impressive performances, Canelo was then matched up with Jermell Charlo, who was jumping up two weight divisions to take him on.
The fight came as quite the shock as for months, fans expected that the Mexican would take on Charlo’s twin brother, Jermall.
Charlo was the undisputed light middleweight champion and his bout against Canelo was being labeled ‘undisputed vs undisputed’, however, as soon as the fight began, Charlo was stripped of his WBA title.
Ahead of the fight, Canelo opted to move his fight camp to Lake Tahoe, which is renowned for its high-altitude. Charlo came in at a career high weight of 167.4lbs, and Canelo matched his weight.
As expected, both fighters started off slowly in the fight before Canelo began to take over in the second round and went on to largely control the rest of the fight.
It wasn’t until the seventh round when Canelo dropped Charlo for the first time after landing a right hook followed by a right uppercut, which was only the second time in Charlo’s career that he was knocked down.
From that point, Charlo seemed as though he was looking to just make it to the end of the fight and not suffer a stoppage.
Canelo was asked about clash against Terence Crawford but turned it down
After scoring another dominant win, fans and pundits immediately began to think of who the Mexican could fight after that.
And during his in-ring interview, Canelo was asked about a potential fight against Crawford, but turned it down.
“Nobody can beat this Canelo. Whoever (next), I don’t care,” Canelo said.
“You know, I always say if the fight makes sense, why not? But he’s not in the plan,” Canelo continued.
