Stranded on Honeymoon Island UK is the newest reality dating show on the TV block. With Love is Blind UK series two done and dusted, we are in (desperate!) need of more romance on our screens.

The 12-part series – hosted by none other than Davina McCall – airs on Wednesday 3 September. But, this time, there’s another element thrown into the mix: survival.

Made by the trusty producers of Married at Fight Sight UK, the show kicks off with five-minute speed dates, before the 12 singletons are paired up by the experts. They’ll later walk down the aisle, not knowing which one of their speed dates they’ll marry.

After saying “I do”, it’s honeymoon time for the six couples. At a five-star luxury resort in the Maldives? Nope. In fact, they’re marooned on six different tropical beaches – which might not seem so bad… until you factor in their digs (a basic hut), being eaten alive by mosquitos and only having one set of clothes. No, thank you.

What makes Stranded on Honeymoon Island unique?

Unlike Love Island, where cast members like Shakira are as young as 22 years old, the singletons on Stranded on Honeymoon Island are slightly older. With an age range of 28 to 35, they are at a life stage where they may be more ready to settle down.

Married at First Sight’s formal dinner-party format couldn’t be more different from Stranded on Honeymoon Island. The cast are stripped from all of their luxuries – forget make-up, hair straighteners and even proper toilets. As a result, there’s potential for their connections to be less superficial, with the goal of being the next big influencer aside, too.

It’s a far cry from Love Island, but will any couples make it through this ultimate test?

Stranded on Honeymoon Island airs on Wednesday 3 September on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
