Australia’s two biggest venture capital firms have missed their gender diversity investment targets for a third consecutive year, despite saying companies founded by women are just as likely to succeed as their male counterparts.

New data published by Airtree Ventures and Blackbird Ventures show companies with only women founders collected just 2 per cent of the total capital invested by each firm over the 2025 financial year. Mixed gender founding teams received 60 per cent of the total capital invested by Blackbird over the year, but the majority of funds invested by Airtree went to men only.
