Hyderabad: Two Telugu students, one of them confirmed to be hailing from Hyderabad, were killed in a horrific road accident in Essex city of United Kingdom early on Monday, according to information reaching here. One of the victims was idenfitied as Rishiteja Rapolu (21) pursuing higher studies in the United Kingdom. His parents live in Boduppal.

According to Essex police, an accident occured on the Dual Carriageway A130 at Rayleigh Spur roundabout. Local media including the BBC reported that that a group of nine friends and roommates, all residents of Ilford–Barking area, were on their way to Southend-on-Sea when the crash occurred. Two of the critically injured students were airlifted to the Royal London Hospital, where they died later.
Essex Fire and Rescue Service reported that the dual carriageway was shut for several miles between the Sadlers Farm roundabout (A13) at South Benfleet and the Rettendon Turnpike at Battlesbridge (A1245).
The Essex police have announced that the drivers of the two vehicles have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. The 23 and 24 year-old men are currently in custody.
