The British Government has granted a development consent order (CDO) for the development of the 1.5 GW Morgan offshore wind project in the Irish Sea (United Kingdom), awarded as part of the Round 4 Offshore Wind Licensing Arrangements. The project has been classified as a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP) and is being developed by a joint venture between EnBW and JERA Nex bp. The project it is expected to produce enough energy to power the equivalent of around 1.5 million homes per year once operational.

Additionally, the Morgan Transmission Project to supply the infrastructure needed to transfer power to the grid is undergoing the examination phase and is expected to receive a decision on development consent during 2026.

JERA Nex bp and EnBW are also developing two other offshore wind developments in the UK: the Mona Offshore Wind Project in the Irish Sea and the Morven Offshore Wind Project in the North Sea.

The United Kingdom seeks to reach up to 50 GW of clean energy from offshore wind deployed by 2030. At the end of 2024, the country had an offshore wind capacity of over 16 GW.
