The session at Calderbridge covered the five main aspects of internet learning that support a child’s media literacy.

These are staying sharp about what you’re sharing online; being alert to scams and misinformation; using tools to keep your devices secure; being kind with others online, and being brave by talking to trusted adults about problems.

Diane Osborne, head teacher at Calderbridge Primary, said: “At Calderbridge Primary School, we are proud to be part of the Internet Legends programme, helping our pupils become safe, responsible, and confident digital citizens.

“This initiative gives our young people the knowledge and tools they need to navigate the online world wisely.

“We are also incredibly grateful to MP Pamela Nash for visiting our school and showing such genuine interest in our pupils’ learning—her support and encouragement meant a great deal to our whole school community.”

Motherwell, Wishaw and Carluke MP Pamela Nash joined pupils at Calderbridge for the assembly.

She added: “The pupils taking part in Calderbridge Primary’s Be Internet Legends event are an absolute credit to their families and teachers.

“Children use the internet constantly; for homework, playing games and keeping in touch with friends, so it’s imperative that they know how to stay safe online. The session was really fun and interactive and it’s clear Wishaw kids really know their stuff!”
